The deep pits included: Rhondda Main - sunk in 1914 and closed in 1924, Aber - sunk in approx 1865, closure date unknown, Penllwyngwent - sunk in 1905 and closed in 1969, Wyndham - sunk in 1984 and closed in 1886, Western - sunk in 1984 and closed in 1887 To see what this area looked like in 1884 click here.
